Accommodation
The impressive original building standing next to Ecclesall woods was converted from a large family house and extended in 1995 with new single en-suite rooms. Since then, the original building has been extensively modified such that nearly all rooms are now single en-suite.
The accommodation is arranged over ground and first floors with an interconnecting passenger lift. The general appointment and decoration throughout is of a high standard with each room equipped with colour TV and private telephone in addition to the usual facilities. Residents are most welcome to have as many personal possessions as space and safety regulations will allow. Residents are encouraged to meet in the conservatory which is the focal point of daily life although residents who prefer stay in their own room are welcome to do so.
We also have a small quiet room next to the conservatory where residents can confer in private if they wish.
The dining room is used every day for those who wish to but whether this is used or not there will always be a member of staff to assist at meal times.
Catering, laundry and housekeeping
In addition to our excellent nursing staff, we have a dedicated ancillary staff ensuring that catering and other non-nursing duties such as laundry and cleaning are of a high standard.
We have a fine menu complemented by sherry in the mornings, red or white wine at luncheon and home made cakes and biscuits in the afternoon. Whilst there are set daily menus, residents can always order alternatives.
Hot drinks and snacks are available at all times throughout the day and night for residents and their visitors.
We have our own on site laundry.
Medical services
We have a number of local doctors who visit us as required. Where appropriate, referrals are made to physiotherapy, speech therapy etc either under the NHS or privately.
Other services
Our hairdresser visits each Thursday. The chiropodist visits every six weeks. We have gentle exercises most Tuesdays and the aromatherapist visits fortnightly. In addition, our own staff will assist with manicure as required.
Activities
We maintain a varied activities programme including music, religious services and outings. Residents need not be involved if they so wish.
